Ithaca Bound Languages is a translation & learning platform project started in May of 2022 by Ithaca Bound. The project is documenting all of the major languages and dialects of the Mediterranean Basin. Here is the real-life story of how the project began (excerpt from the Tunisian Arabic Dictionary, published by Ithaca Bound Publishing in October, 2025)

A unique aspect about the IBL project is that it’s citizens of the Mediterranean countries that are providing the translations (both in text and audio). To date, 56 Languages Contributors have created a total of 11,189 pages across the following languages and dialects:

• 916 pages of Egyptian Arabic translation content
• 1,952 pages of Lebanese Arabic translation content
• 58 pages of Moroccan Arabic translation content
• 4,846 pages of Tunisian Arabic translation content
• 1,230 pages of Greek translation content
• 110 pages of Spanish translation content
• 2,116 pages of Turkish translation content
